What is this dark patch / spot on my 4 year old son's belly? Freckle, Cancer, Mole, Bruise, Birthmark?

It's probably a birthmark. Not all birthmarks are red; I've got one myself on my leg that's brownish. Even if it isn't, it's more than likely -not- cancerous or any kind of dangerous, so you probably have nothing to worry about.
